Surrender Prevention
Education is a very important part of what Wolfe Ridge Farm does. The most prevalent issue with rooster abandonment is the belief that roosters are loud and aggressive. We strive to reach out to as many in the community, to educate on the true nature of most roosters. We accomplish this through social media, counseling of rooster owners that want to relinquish their roosters; Sometimes the issue is in the relationship with the rooster that can be resolved and the rooster can stay home. We also have outreach events and booths within the community, depending on volunteers and financing.
When an individual wants to or needs to surrender a rooster to us, we treat them with respect and care. In most cases, the rooster had been loved and handled until he started to crow. The individuals do not always want to surrender their rooster but are forced to by draconian city and county codes or intolerant neighbors. We encourage rooster owners to keep their loved ones and work with neighbors and their own tolerance for crowing. Sometimes the only solution is for the rooster to find safety and love at Wolfe Ridge Farm.
